Get to Know Your Instructor
Hello,
My name is Jose Amparo and it's my pleasure to be teaching this class. I graduated from Northern Arizona University (Yuma Campus) with a Masters Degree in Community Counseling. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor approved by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and approved Clinical Supervisor. I have worked in different settings throughout the years assisting youth, family, adults and students. Currently, I work full-time assisting immigrant/refugee children that come from different parts of the world.
I'm married to my beautiful wife Jessica and we have an 11 year old daughter and 14 year old son. I'm happy to say that I'm the son of immigrant parents who moved to the U.S. from the state of Jalisco, Mexico in the 80's. My first language is Spanish though since a young age, I also learned to speak English. At times, I tend to mix both languages (spanglish) when I speak and when I write.
I enjoy the outdoors, sports, especially soccer and spending time with my family. As a family, we enjoy helping the underserved communities in Mexico, Yuma and the Phoenix Valley.
I wish everyone the best this semester and I hope you all do well in the class.
